OFCS Nominees for 2014–Winners Announced

OFCS

I have voting privileges in four organizations this year that seek to recognize the best achievements in film during the year 2014. And, of course, I’ll have my own eclectic list of personal favorites. Still to come, the Ecumenical Jury Awards presented by a panel of Christian film critics and cinephiles. Also, I get to submit a ballot for IndieWire. At the end of this month, the North Carolina Film Critics Association will announce its nominees.

But first up is the Online Film Critics Society (OFCS), which announced its nominees yesterday. Predictions? I suspect the OFCS may come down to a battle between Boyhood and Whiplash, two films I liked considerably less than my peers but have the advantage (in this vote) of an early release date, allowing them both to be seen by a majority of members.

What choices would you make if you were voting? (Update: Winners were announced December 15th at 10:00 a.m. and are marked with asterisk).
