The plot or themes, sort of. The spirit or tone, less so in my opinion. I thought &lt;em&gt;Be Kind Rewind&lt;/em&gt; had a kind of slacker sensibility. As such, it pretty much invited us to laugh scornfully at the protagonists. If I laughed at times in &lt;em&gt;Supermen&lt;/em&gt; it was in a Horatian way--at myself or at the human condition. Perhaps a different way of thinking about it is that the guys in &lt;em&gt;Be Kind&lt;/em&gt; sort of have a task thrust upon them, whereas I think &lt;em&gt;Supermen&lt;/em&gt; is about striving for (not just wanting) more.</description>

   At the risk of trivializing your thoughtful review by introducing Jack Black into the conversation, I can&#039;t help but notice actual parallels between &lt;i&gt;Superman&lt;/i&gt; and &lt;i&gt;Be Kind Rewind&lt;/i&gt;, although I haven&#039;t actually watched either film. Have you seen the latter, and if so, is there &lt;i&gt;anything at all&lt;/i&gt; that connects the spirit of the two films?</description>
