I thought <em>Be Kind Rewind</em> had a kind of slacker sensibility. As such, it pretty much invited us to laugh scornfully at the protagonists. If I laughed at times in <em>Supermen</em> it was in a Horatian way--at myself or at the human condition. Perhaps a different way of thinking about it is that the guys in <em>Be Kind</em> sort of have a task thrust upon them, whereas I think <em>Supermen</em> is about striving for (not just wanting) more.
